You won't find 105 names on this list. This list was assembled from various sources, including Capt. Smith's own account. Captain Smith may have been inaccurate in his recollection, or perhaps there were some whose names were never recorded.

Next to each name is the person's occupation, if it was known. The word "Gentlemen" means that the person was educated and of a higher social class. Usually Gentlemen had no manual skills and were not expected to do ordinary labor. They often served in the military or legal professions. The Virginia Company readily accepted them because they were able to pay their own way.
